Hollyburn Properties is a family company with deep roots on the North Shore.
Thanks to a $1 million donation by Hollyburn Properties, the Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver is the first hospital in Canada to employ the latest generation in MRI technology – the GE Signa Explorer.
This state-of-the-art MRI machine features advanced software, allowing for faster, more accurate diagnostic scans. With the new technology, the noise level in some scans is reduced by 97.5% – from 108 to three decibels. This has been shown to reduce anxiety in claustrophobic patients and patients with dementia.
Every year, the digital imaging department at Lions Gate sees more than seven thousand patients for magnetic resonance imaging, a safe and painless test that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed pictures of the body’s organs and structures.
“This is an extremely generous gift that will have a significant impact on patient care,” says Judy Savage, President, Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. “It will allow considerable quality improvements and greater patient comfort, bringing first-class diagnostic imaging capability to the North Shore.”
Hollyburn Properties founder Stephen Sander says Hollyburn has strong ties to the North Shore and is proud to serve the community.
“We have proudly operated on the North Shore for over 40 years,” he said, “The Lions Gate Hospital is an institution that benefits us all, and we are incredibly honoured to contribute new MRI technology that will provide top-end care to residents here and across the Vancouver coastal region.”
Hollyburn Properties proudly supports numerous community initiatives and partners with organizations that benefit the neighbourhoods it is privileged to be a part of. Today’s contribution signals the strength and longevity of Hollyburn’s commitment to, and investment in, the future of the North Shore community.
