Bridgewater, the first new rental high-rise in the City of North Vancouver in over 35 years, is now complete!
Over the course of building development, we partnered with the North Vancouver City Library in sponsoring a series of art contests as a way to spark curiosity, encourage community building, and engage the local public in the new project.
In total, we ran five Community Art Contests over the course of a year and a half, each with three age categories (from age 3 – 18), and three chances to win! Prizes included gift certificates to a nearby book store, limited edition bookmarks created with the submissions, and the winning artwork was featured publicly on Bridgewater signage, on the website, and now – in the building. We are working on a creative art wall installation in the communal resident lounge, displaying an array of our favourite works, and sharing the community legacy that the contests established through the building common areas.
Let’s recap our contest themes and winners since the beginning:
Winter 2014 – Winter Colouring Contest
Spring 2015 – Home Sweet Home
Fall 2015 – Halloween
Spring 2016 – Valentine’s Day/Love
Summer 2016 – What do you love about the North Shore?
Thank you to everyone who participated along the way. The artwork inspired us, blew us away, and has motivated us continue building similar creative community partnerships. All contest submissions are now closed. Until next time!
